Classes for 12–16-year-olds at Rickmansworth School, Croxley. (11 year old's accepted if school year 7)
What’s being taught? Your child will be learning the traditional Chinese martial art of Wing Chun (Ving Tsun) The philosophy of the art is to teach flow. The make-up of flow is de-escalating situations, evade and escape potential dangers.
We have a strict code of conduct; no student will be forced to participate in any activity they do not feel comfortable with and students are reminded frequently that the use of excessive force is not acceptable in a learning environment.
The session will be led by myself, Jason Burton, a qualified martial arts instructor and a licensed instructor with British Martial Arts and Boxing Association. My background is in boxing but I turned to Wing Chun (Ving Tsun) fourteen years ago and progressed to instructor level. My goal is to ensure all my students learn situation awareness, where dangerous situations can occur or escalate, confidence and respect and most importantly prevention of needing to use self-defence - but to also have the tools and knowledge to use striking and defence techniques when absolutely necessary.
